Dive Sites

Phi Phi
While technically located in Krabi waters, Phi Phi is easily reached from Phuket. Its powder soft beaches and dramatic limestone cliffs make it a popular excursion for visitors from both provinces. The diving is not as mind boggling as the Similans or Hin Daeng/Hin Muang but it does offer a huge variety of dive experiences concentrated within a small area. The fascinating sites are filled with caves, swim-thrus and coral gardens.

Racha Islands
Located off the east coast of Phuket, the Racha Islands (Racha Yai and Racha Noi) offer some very good diving year round and are particularly suited for beginners. Sometimes called the Raya Islands, the dives sites feature shallow depths and protected bays with calm waters to mild currents. A perfect spot for newly certified divers eager to explore the undersea world. The smaller of the two islands, Racha Noi, also offers some challenging sites for the experienced diver.

Shark Point
A small rock outcropping about one and a half hour east of Phuket. So named for the docile leopard sharks that can be found around its base. This is a marine sanctuary offering a variety of underwater life. Fairly strong currents sometimes sweep through the site's two pinnacles providing food for the large population of corals that cling to the rocks. Although underwater visibility is sometimes low, on a clear day it is one of the most densely packed ecosystems in Phuket.
